Arkansas Forestry Commission names new deputy forester

LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Forestry Commission has named a replacement for retiring Deputy State Forester Larry Nance.

The commission announced Friday that Mark Cutrer, who has served as a district forester for the commission, will take over the position.

Cutrer, of Hazen, has worked for the commission since 1993 as a county forester, investigator and fire management officer. As district forester, Cutrer covered 16 counties in eastern Arkansas.

He previously served in the U.S. Coast Guard and has a degree in forestry and wildlife from Louisiana State University.

The commission's mission is to protect Arkansas forests from wildfires and natural hazards and to promote forest health, stewardship, development and conservation.
