Al Greggory Dodds was booked into the Pulaski County jail early Wednesday on a charge of Medicaid fraud, a felony, and was released on $2,500 bond, a jail spokesman said.

According to the news release, the state Office of Medicaid Inspector General contacted the attorney general's Medicaid Fraud Control Unit after an audit found that Dodds overbilled Medicaid $8,133.77 for January.

On Tuesday, after the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit personnel searched Dodds' office, Dodds "admitted to purposely billing the Arkansas Medicaid Program in a fraudulent manner for the last six months and estimated his own fraudulent billings to be between $70,000 and $80,000," the release says.

Initial reviews by the fraud control unit and inspector general "indicate the amount of the fraud will well exceed Dodds' estimates," the release says.
