I-40/I-430 junction work to shift lanes

Work on the Interstate 40/Interstate 430 interchange in North Little Rock will require a traffic shift overnight next week, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said.

The contractor is widening approximately 5.1 miles of I-40 to three lanes in each direction, including widening two single-lane ramps to two lanes at the interchange, the department said. To continue with construction, traffic on the ramp bridge from I-430 north to I-40 west will be relocated to the newly constructed inside lane pavement.

The transition will occur from 9 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday, weather permitting. The new configuration is expected to continue until interchange work is complete, the department said. The $38.4 million widening project is anticipated to be complete in 2016.
