U.S. 167 tests require Calhoun County lane closures

Soil testing on U.S 167 just north of Hampton in Calhoun County will require lane closures starting Wednesday, state highway officials said.

A contractor will be taking soil samples at three bridges over Champagnolle Creek, and the lane closure will extend one mile, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said. During the work, traffic will be reduced to one lane, with crews alternately closing the northbound and southbound lanes and closures, department officials said.

The work will start from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday and last about two weeks, weather permitting, the department said.
