Jehovah’s Witnesses to convene in 3 cities

Thousands of Jehovah’s Witnesses from Arkansas and beyond are expected to attend “Imitate Jesus” conventions in Little Rock, Hot Springs and Fort Smith.

The Little Rock convention will be held Friday-June 14 at the Statehouse Convention Center, 101 E. Markham St. Little Rock convention spokesman Judah Day expects around 3,000 to attend.

Four conventions, spread out over four weekends in June and July, will be held at the Fort Smith Convention Center, 55 S. Seventh St. More than 12,000 participants are expected to attend the meetings to be held June 19-21, June 26-28, July 3-5 and July 10-12. The first three programs will be in English and the final convention will be presented in Spanish.

The same “Imitate Jesus” will also be held July 17-19 at the Bank of the Ozarks Arena, 134 Convention Blvd., Hot Springs.

Convention activities begin in all locations at 9:20 a.m. daily. The events are free and the public is welcome.

Fort Smith convention spokesman Richard Lawrence said a highlight of the program will be the keynote address each Friday morning, titled “Concealed in Him Are All the Treasures of Wisdom.”

Amplify conference to feature Lecrae

HOT SPRINGS — Magic Springs Water and Theme Park will host Amplify, an event for students and for adults involved in student ministry, on June 13 at the Hot Springs Convention Center. Grammy Award-winning Christian hip-hop artist Lecrae will perform a concert at the theme park. Last year’s event drew more than 800 students.

The conference will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the convention center, 134 Convention Blvd., and at noon will move to Magic Springs, where participants can spend the rest of the day before watching the concert at 8 p.m.

Conference speakers include Brandon Barber, lead pastor of Elevate Church in Houston, and author Mercy Lokulutu from Baltimore. Christian magician Brad Brown will also be featured.

COGIC auxiliaries to meet in Pine Bluff

PINE BLUFF — The Arkansas First Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ will have its fifth annual Auxiliaries in Ministry Convention from Monday-Friday at the Pine Bluff Convention Center, 2 Convention Center Plaza. Delegates from more than 100 churches are expected to attend the program of spiritual enrichment, training, education and fellowship.

Auxiliaries for youth and music, missions and evangelism and Sunday School will meet for daily sessions during the week and all participants will come together for sessions at 8 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. daily. The convention will be led by Bishop Jewel Withers Jr., jurisdictional prelate, and Elder Cedric Smith, jurisdictional chairman.

Registration is required to attend workshops and is available online at ar1cogic.org. Tickets are $60 for adults ages 19 and up. Tickets for youth range from $40 for silver level to $140 for platinum.
