The Pope County sheriff's office is investigating after deputies found a body in a vacant field Wednesday.
Authorities were called to a vacant field in the Appleton community about 6:30 p.m. to investigate a report of a body, Pope County Sheriff Shane Jones said in a statement.
Deputies and state troopers investigated and found body in the field, Jones said. The identity and age of the person will not be released until the next-of-kin have been notified, he said.
The body has been sent to the Arkansas Crime Laboratory and authorities do not expect to find the death related to foul play, Jones said.
