MovieStyle: Ain’t no cure for the summertime blues

Seth Macfarlane’s foul-mouthed, pot-smoking teddy bear is back for another round this week, as the sequel Ted 2 lumbers into the cineplexes. This time he’s out to prove he should be entitled to all the rights and privileges that accrue to a real boy. So is this a layered allegory about U.S. immigration policy? Dan Lybarger saw the movie and reports in this Friday’s MovieStyle.

Lybarger also interviews Liz Garbus, the director of the documentary What Happened? Miss Simone, which is premiering on video on demand this week.

We’ve also got Max, a Belgian Malinois who has trouble adjusting to stateside life after serving with the U.S. Marines in Afghanistan, and Josh Hutcherson as the world’s most naive Canadian surfer dude in Esocbar: Paradise Lost. Plus, Saint Laurent, the other bio-pic about French designer Yves Saint Laurent (Yves Saint Laurent opened last year) hits local theaters.

And, if you’re in a stay-at-home mood, Karen Martin runs down the week’s home video releases.
