The Pulaski County sheriff’s office promoted 10 of its deputies at a Thursday morning ceremony.

Before sheriff's office employees and family members, Sheriff Doc Holladay presented new badges to recognize the promotions of deputies Lesa Warner, Dewayne Warner, Scott Terrell, Denise Atwood and Cherry Comic to sergeants; sergeants Derrick Freeman and Lashunda Calvin to lieutenant; Lt. Matthew Briggs to major; Lt. Toni Rose to captain; and Maj. Michael Sylvester to chief of detention.

Rose, who joined the Pulaski County sheriff’s office in 1996, was promoted from lieutenant to captain of security and housing at the Pulaski County jail.

“I feel wonderful,” she said.

She said she's eager to take on her new responsibilities. In her 19 years of experience, she was “able to expand and learn different things,” and she feels prepared for her new position, she said.

After honoring each promoted deputy with the new badge, Holladay invited a family member or co-worker to do the honors of pinning it on their uniforms.

“They’re here because they’ve demonstrated throughout their career that they have worked to achieve their status they’re gaining today,” Holladay said.

All of the promotions granted Thursday were in the detention division, he said.
