All-Star week for high school athletes across the state of Arkansas can mean several things.
For one small group of fortunate players, the games are a final step in their high school careers before the next step just around the corner at the collegiate level. But for most of the recently graduated seniors in Conway this week, the All-Star week is the final opportunity to play the sport they love on a competitive level.

When the Arkansas High School Coaches' Association All-Star Football game kicks off at 7 p.m. today at Estes Stadium, a mix of players who will move onto the college ranks will battle with and against many who are strapping on the pads for the final time.
Jackson McNeal, an offensive lineman from Fayetteville who is playing for the West All-Stars, is among the group playing his last game of football. McNeal, a 6-foot-2, 245-pound tackle, will attend the University of Arkansas as a student only this fall and views the All-Star week as a chance to end his playing career on a positive note.
"It's exciting," McNeal said. "The last time I played in a game (in the Class 7A finals) it didn't end the way I had hoped. So I'm glad for the opportunity to end with a win."
McNeal joins a strong collection of players from the Northwest Arkansas and River Valley areas representing mostly the West All-Star team today. His Fayetteville teammates, Sam Threlkeld and Ridley Weeks, are with him this week, along with fellow 7A-West Conference running back Joey Saucier from Rogers Heritage, wide receiver Salvador Sandoval from Springdale High and Fort Smith Southside's Dontae Perry, Seth Acosta, Brett James, Robert Ross and Juwan Campbell.
Others making up the West roster locally include Travis England of Elkins and Dylan Jones of Charleston.
"I've been surprised at some of the talent here," McNeal said. "I'm a pretty big guy, but I look like a fly on the wall compared to some of these guys.
"We go up against the top guys in the 7A, but there's definitely guys just as talented here from the other classifications."
While McNeal makes up the majority of players who will the All-Star game as their football curtain call, others will springboard from the game onto their college careers. One such player is Sandoval, who plans to play at Missouri Southern State.
"I want us to win," Sandoval said. "Because you know, I could use the win. So I'd be pretty upset if we end up losing this game."
