ARKANSAS BAR ASSOCIATION

Lawyers meet for mingling, legal education, acting out

A reception in the Great Hall of the Clinton Presidential Center on Feb. 18 gave Arkansas Bar Association members a chance to mingle the first day of their midyear meeting.

This is the first time in 20 years the midyear meeting has been held in Little Rock, said executive director Karen Hutchins. The meeting had been held in Memphis. Hutchins says the bar is hoping to get more central Arkansas lawyers involved in the next few years.

Besides the reception and a continuing legal education workshop at the Capital Hotel, members had several interesting events lined up for the three-day conference including watching the state Supreme Court hear arguments at the Old State House Museum followed by a staged drama, Funny Moments in Arkansas History, written by the museum's Josh Sigal. The drama starred bar association members, some who had cut their teeth in local Gridiron productions.
