Several central Arkansas school districts have already decided to close on Thursday because of wintry weather.
The National Weather Service expects "substantial" accumulations from current winter precipitation covering the state, and predicts that lower than normal temperatures on Thursday will prolong dangerous road conditions.
As winter weather storm warnings are in effect overnight, the Little Rock, North Little Rock and Pulaski County Special school districts called off classes for Thursday.
Conway and Cabot school districts also canceled school.
