Severe thunderstorms are expected to hit parts of Arkansas late Wednesday afternoon and evening as a cold front accelerates in from the west, forecasters said.
The extreme northwest sections of the state are under the greatest threat of severe thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening, creating the possibility of “very large hail, damaging winds and isolated tornadoes,” National Weather Service Science and Operations Officer Chris Buonanno wrote in an email.
Large hail and damaging winds will be possibly Wednesday evening and overnight in the northwest half of the state, Buonanno said, adding that some thunderstorms could also bring heavy rainfall.
