According to police, on Monday afternoon, Johnson yanked Janet Jackson, 52, from her SUV at the Kroger at 8415 W. Johnson and the other man fled from police in the stolen vehicle before abandoning it and fleeing on foot.

Police said Johnson was in possession of a stolen vehicle, which he left at the Kroger before committing Monday's robbery.

Johnson was being held in the Pulaski County jail Wednesday night in lieu of $31,500 bond.

The second suspect hadn't been arrested as of Wednesday night.

Police say woman spit on NLR officer

A woman arrested early Wednesday morning by North Little Rock police for driving a stolen van became combative, later spitting in an officer's face, according to an arrest report.

Tanisha Renea Owens, 19, of 1201 E. 16th St. in North Little Rock was arrested at 2:32 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of West 51st and East Willow streets in North Little Rock, police reported.

After being handcuffed and placed in the back of a patrol car, police said Owens began spitting and kicking in the back seat of the car. She was removed from the car and continued to fight while on the ground.

Police reported Owens forced herself to her knees, turned and spit in an officer's face.

Owens was charged with theft by receiving, aggravated assault on a police officer and two counts of obstructing government operations.

She was being held in the Pulaski County jail Wednesday night in lieu of bonds totaling $37,000.

Man arrested day after attack claim

In his second alcohol-related encounter with police in as many days, a Little Rock man was arrested Wednesday on charges of criminal trespassing and public intoxication.

Officers' first brush with Darren Gibson this week came at 4:25 p.m. Tuesday in the 1400 block of Battery Street. They responded to an assault call in the area and found Gibson bleeding from his head with a beer in one hand and a brick in the other, according to a police incident report.

Gibson, 41, told police that a man had attacked and robbed him after an argument at a nearby convenience store, according to the report. He said a man took his beer, struck him in the head with it and took his wallet. A witness saw the two men fighting in a parking lot.

Officers found the suspect eating a piece of chicken nearby and detained him, the report states. He denied any contact with Gibson and was released.

Gibson received medical treatment at the scene.

Officers encountered Gibson again when they were called to a home at 1812 W. Daisy L. Gatson Bates Drive about 3:10 p.m. Wednesday.

A resident, Esau Farmer, 57, said he'd opened his screen door because the weather was nice. Gibson purportedly walked inside and refused to leave. Police soon arrived and arrested him.

Gibson, who was last known to reside at 220 E. 19th St. in North Little Rock, told police on both occasions that he was visiting his uncle, but provided different addresses for the relative.

He was not listed on the Pulaski County jail roster late Wednesday.
