Man pulls knife, is stabbed with it, police say

A North Little Rock man is accused of pulling a knife during an argument before the other man wrestled it away from him and stabbed him with it multiple times, authorities said.

Donald Adrian Sharp, 28, is facing a charge of aggravated assault.

According to a police report, Charles Witcher of Little Rock told investigators the two were at the Budgetel Inn & Suites on Pershing Avenue before 12:30 a.m. Friday when an argument turned into a fight and Sharp punched him in the face. Sharp then pulled out a pocket knife, the report states.

A large window in the room was broken during an ensuing struggle over the weapon, and Sharp at one point grabbed Witcher's throat and choked him, the report said.

"Mr. Witcher stated that he defended himself by wrestling the knife away from Mr. Sharp's other hand and stabbing Mr. Sharp several times in the arms, shoulders and chest," police wrote in the report, noting that Witcher then ran from the hotel and across the street to police headquarters, where he gave authorities the weapon.

Officers found Sharp in the parking lot. Police say they sought Sharp's side of the story but he would only say: "He stabbed me! He stabbed me!"

A witness who was also in the room told police Sharp was the aggressor who first attacked Witcher with the knife and then choked him, the report added.

It wasn't clear what prompted the altercation.

Sharp was first treated at Baptist Health Medical Center in North Little Rock for his wounds before being booked into the Pulaski County jail, where he remained Friday morning with bail set at $25,000. A Tuesday court date is set.
