LA.-MONROE 6, UALR 1

Louisiana-Monroe (25-26, 12-15) jumped out to a 5-0 lead and defeated UALR on Sunday at Gary Hogan Field in Little Rock.

Nathan Pugh broke open a scoreless tie in the fifth inning with a two-run home run to put the Warhawks ahead. Louisiana-Monroe made it 5-0 when Danny Springer singled up the middle to score Nathan Pugh from second. Justin Slawchny then doubled to score Keelin Rasch and Springer.

The Trojans (15-30, 11-15) finally scored in the eighth when Tanner Rockwell hit a deep sacrfice fly to right field to score Petr Sila.

The Warhawks added one more in the ninth when Rasch’s fifth hit of the game scored Pugh.

Brandon Bell (4-5) picked up the victory for Louisiana-Monroe, allowing no runs on 3 hits in 6 innings. Cameron Allen (3-6) took the loss for the Trojans, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits in 5 innings. UALR needs to win the series at Arkansas State this weekend and needs losses from either Louisiana-Monroe or Texas State for the Trojans to qualify for the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.

ARKANSAS STATE 11, TEXAS STATE 10

Jeremy Brown singled in Stuart Levy in the top of the ninth inning to give Arkansas State (23-26, 10-16) a victory in San Marcos, Texas on Sunday.

Ty White walked with one out in the ninth, but was erased on a fielder’s choice by Levy. Levy advanced to second on a wild pitch which set the stage for Brown when he delivered a line drive past the diving shortstop to score Levy. Texas State (20-29, 12-15) had a chance to come back in the bottom of the ninth when they had runners on first and third, but a squeeze bunt by Mickey Scott was fielded by Tyler Zuber, who threw to Levy to get the runner at the plate. Zuber struck out Theodore Hoffman and got Jared Huber to ground out to end the game and complete the three-game sweep.

Zach George led the Red Wolves with three hits, was hit by a pitch twice and drove in two runs. Zuber (6-4) pitched the final 1 2/3 innings to get the victory. Pasquale Mazzocolli (0-2) took the loss, allowing 1 run on 2 hits in 2 1/3 innings. Corey Geiseler and Ben McElroy led Texas State with three hits each.

SOUTHLAND

SE LOUISIANA 11, CENTRAL ARKANSAS 5

Southeastern Louisiana (38-15, 22-5 Southland) scored the first 10 runs of the game including six in the fourth in winning Sunday in Hammond, La.

Central Arkansas (24-21, 14-13) finally scored in the seventh inning when Logan Preston hit a two-run home run. After singles by Tyler Langley and Wesley Hoover, Chris Townsend followed with a triple to left-center field to score both runners to make it 10-4. Kyle Cedotal (8-2) allowed 4 runs on 7 hits for the Lions.

Chris Caudle (0-1) allowed 6 earned runs on 5 hits in 3 2/3 innings.
