Springdale goal keeper Luis Rodgriguez turned back Luis Torres’ attempt as the Bulldogs advanced to the second round, where they will face Little Rock Catholic.

Mount St. Mary wins
MacKenzie Gordon scored the game-winning goal in the fourth minute of overtime from 17 yards away as Mount St. Mary edged past Rogers 1-0 in the first round of the 7A girls state tournament at Bryant High School.
Gordon’s game-winner was the first shot on goal for both teams in the overtime period.
Mount St. Mary took 31 shots on goal during the game with goal keeper Katy Divino saving 11.
Rogers finshed the game with 18 shots on goal, but most were easy keeper saves.
7A BASEBALL
Bryant KO’d
It was a short stay for the defending state champions.
Rogers Heritage took advantage of three errors by Bryant to score four unearned runs as the War Eagles knocked off the Hornets 6-3 in the opening round of the state tournament at the Bentonville Tiger Athletic Complex.
Heritage left-hander Kacey Murphy, an Arkansas signee, allowed 3 runs on 4 hits and struck out 10 as he outdueled future Razorbacks teammate Blaine Knight, who gave up 6 runs, 2 earned, on 10 hits over 6 innings with 8 strikeouts.
Murphy also went 2 for 3 and drove in 1 run for Heritage, which broke Bryant’s 13-game winning streak.
7A SOFTBALL
Har-Ber hangs on
Heidi Bogle, a sophomore shortstop who played center field for most of this season, had three hits and started a key double play that helped Springdale Har-Ber defeat Conway 7-6 in the opening round of the 7A softball state tournament at Veterans Park in Rogers.
Emily Stockalper hit a home run and earned the victory and Morgan Neal added a two-run triple for Har-Ber, which has won six of its past seven games.
