Antwan Terrell Scott, represented by attorney Ron Davis, pleaded guilty to theft, felon in possession of a firearm and two counts of robbery, reduced from aggravated robbery, in exchange for the 20-year sentence from Pulaski County Circuit Judge Chris Piazza.

Deputy prosecutor Aaron Ablondi said Scott, armed with a gun, robbed clerks Milton Gonzalez, 32, and Juan Mendez, 35, in April 2012 at the Sunshine Food Mart on Baseline Road.

According to police reports, Scott was accompanied by an unidentified accomplice, and the men stole the store's cash register.

Police said the store owner, Fadi Ktouf, 34, got the license plate number of the white Mercury Grand Marquis, driven by a third man, that the robbers escaped in. The car was registered to Scott.

The robbery was recorded on store surveillance, Ablondi told the judge, and Scott admitted to the holdup when he was arrested the next day.

Scott was 16 in September 1994 when he shot Corey Dion Jones, who was also 16, to death on Rosemoor Drive. Police said Jones, a member of the Folks street gang, was killed in a dispute that flared after two rival gangs showed up at the same party. Scott was a member of the Vice Lords, court records show.

Scott claimed self-defense, telling police that he only fired his gun after Jones drew a pistol. But the teen was convicted of first-degree murder at trial in June 1995 and sentenced to 40 years in prison.

Scott was paroled in August 2006, then returned to prison for six months in September 2010 before being released again in March 2011.
