SWAT team called over suicide threat
Little Rock police activated a SWAT unit Saturday morning after a man threatened suicide with a knife on the 4100 block of South University Avenue, spokesman Lt. Sidney Allen said.
The special weapons and tactics unit arrived with the crisis negotiations team, joining Little Rock police, Allen said.
Members of the crisis negotiations team began talking to the man, who was not identified Saturday, but the man refused to drop his knife, Allen said.
Little Rock police officers then approached the man from behind and used a Taser on him.
He was taken into custody and taken to a local hospital for a mental evaluation.
