Lexi Weeks scored 2,760 points Wednesday and leads the 19th annual state high school heptathlon after four events, while twin sister Tori is third with 2,588 points going into the final day of competition at Cabot High School.

Little Rock Parkview junior Jada Baylark scored 2,701 points Wednesday and trails Lexi Weeks by 59 points.

Baylark won the 200 meters in 24.92 seconds, but Lexi Weeks’ fifth-place finish in the event was enough to move her into first place with three events remaining today.

Joey Saucier has some ground to make up if he’s going to bring the state high school decathlon title back to Rogers Heritage for the third consecutive year.

Saucier led for much of Wednesday at the 52nd annual state high school decathlon, but Lorenzo Watkins of Hamburg overtook Saucier in the 400 meters — the final event of the day — to take the overall lead heading into the final day of competition at Cabot High School.

Watkins, a junior, turned in the top performance in the long jump (21 feet, 8¾ inches) and finished two spots ahead of Saucier in the 400 to finish with 3,333 points through five events.
