Springdale police investigate woman's death

SPRINGDALE -- Springdale police are investigating the death of a 28-year-old woman, spokesman Lt. Scott Lewis said Wednesday.

The woman's body, found about 8:11 a.m. Wednesday, had a gunshot wound, police said. A family member of the woman called police, according to a news release Wednesday afternoon.

Police don't know if the death is a homicide, Lewis said. He wouldn't say if witnesses heard or saw anything.

The call for help was originally listed as a cardiac arrest, said Capt. Dustin Kelley, Fire Department spokesman. Police dispatch logs show the call was reported as a suicide or attempted suicide.

The body was sent to the state Crime Laboratory, and a report may be finished in about a week, Lewis said. More information will be available then, he said.
