Fountain Hill man killed after vehicle leaves road, strikes tree

A Fountain Hill man died after he failed to stop at a highway intersection and his vehicle left the road in Ashley County, according to an Arkansas State Police report.

Lem A. Lambert, 73, was driving east on Arkansas 8 about 7:25 p.m. Wednesday when he continued through a stop sign at the intersection of Arkansas 8 and U.S. 425, state police said.

According to the report, Lambert's vehicle, a 2000 Chevrolet, went off the east side of U.S. 425 about 8.1 miles north of Hamburg, hit a dirt embankment and struck a tree on the vehicle's right side.

Travel conditions at the time of the accident were described as clear and dry.

The death was the 434th in a vehicle crash in Arkansas so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
