Officers were called at 2:17 a.m. to Westwood Apartments at 1 Nandina Circle. At a nearby gas station, they found Antawon Singleton, 24, of Little Rock sitting in a car that smelled of marijuana, according to a police report. Singleton had been shot multiple times.

He was taken to Baptist Health Medical Center-Little Rock, where he underwent surgery. Information on his condition was unavailable Wednesday.

According to the report, Singleton's younger brothers, Antonio, 21, and Lorenzo, 19, were in the car with him when officers arrived at the gas station. Officers reported that neither was wearing a shirt or shoes, and the youngest had pockets full of cash.

Further circumstances of the shooting were unclear.

"Both [brothers] were uncooperative and stated they were sleeping when the shooting occurred," the report states.

While investigators spoke to the Singleton brothers, Christopher Wells, 20, arrived at CHI St. Vincent Infirmary with a gunshot wound in the right leg, police said. Wells, of Little Rock, and a friend, Thomas Williams, 23, told police they'd been standing outside a home at 2612 S. Izard St. when a man approached and began firing at them, according to a police report.

The shooter reportedly yelled, "I need it," before opening fire. He's described as black, 6 feet tall and weighing 200 pounds.

Wells underwent surgery, but the extent of his injuries was unknown.

Investigators were looking into whether the shootings are connected, according to the report. Police spokesman officer Michelle Hill said Wednesday it was "too early to tell." Detectives were still interviewing those involved, she said.

The Izard Street address is in south Little Rock in the Quapaw Quarter vicinity. Nandina Circle is in far southwest Little Rock.

Several shell casings were recovered at Westwood Apartments, where Singleton was reportedly shot. Police impounded a 2011 Toyota Camry that Wells arrived in at CHI St. Vincent Infirmary.

An investigation is ongoing.

No charges had been filed Wednesday.
