A Monticello man died and two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash about 3 miles east of Monticello in Drew County on Thursday afternoon, Arkansas State Police reported.
A 2009 Ford Focus headed east on Arkansas 35 crossed the centerline at 3:29 p.m. into the path of a westbound 2012 Toyota Yaris, and the the two vehicles collided, the report said.
Gordon Carter, 58, a passenger in the Toyota, died at the scene. The driver of the Toyota -- Ouida Carter, 60, of Monticello -- and the driver of the Ford -- Newton Lagrone, 21, of Monticello -- were injured in the crash.
The report said the injured were taken to Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello and Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, but it does not specify who went to which hospital.
At the time of the crash, the report said the weather was clear and roads were dry.
