A 34-year-old man was killed and a woman was injured when the vehicle they were driving in left the road and struck a tree in Monroe County early Monday, state police said.
Kevin Brown of Holly Grove was driving a 1997 Buick west on Highway 86 near the intersection with Highway 366 about 1 a.m. when he lost control of the vehicle, according to an Arkansas State Police report. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Yaminah Dawson, 24, of Clarendon was taken to Regional One Health in Memphis, the report said.
Road conditions were described as clear and dry at the time of the accident, the report said.
It was the 438th fatality on Arkansas roads and highways in 2015, according to preliminary state police records.
Police records have not yet been updated to include the six victims of Friday's bus crash on I-40 in North Little Rock. Officials are still working to notify the families, state police said.
