Damage to houses and infrastructure was reported in parts of Arkansas after a band of storms moved across the state Tuesday, and crews worked Wednesday afternoon to restore power to thousands of homes and businesses.

About 672 customers remained in the dark as of 9 p.m. Wednesday, Entergy Arkansas said. Electrical service was expected to be restored to most customers by midnight.

Sally Graham, a spokesman for Entergy in Arkansas, said Wednesday afternoon that electricity failures could temporarily increase as crews accessed circuits to work on lines or if more branches fell on power lines.

Power was restored early Wednesday to the Garland County Courthouse, which reopened for business after closing early Tuesday.

More than 22,000 customers were without power during the height of the storms, which downed trees and damaged buildings in various parts of the state.

A tree fell in the Heights neighborhood of Little Rock, smashing through the windshield and onto the hood of a Porsche parked on Van Buren Street. That block of the street was closed Wednesday morning.

Several cabins near Lake Hamilton in Garland County were also damaged, and the roof of an outdoor stage at the Perry County Fairgrounds was ripped off and blown 40 yards away, the National Weather Service said.

The roof was torn off an auto body shop in Grant County, as well as a house in Monticello, according to reports collected by the weather service.

Parts of three Arkansas counties were placed under a tornado warning during Tuesday's storms, but there were no reports of tornadoes in the state. Several possible tornadoes were reported in Mississippi, however.
