A 56-year-old man was arrested by Van Buren police Thursday on a first-degree murder charge in the shooting death of his brother.
Detective Jonathan Wear, a spokesman for the department, said police were called to 412 N. 24th St., at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday after Curtis Don Roberts, 56, called police and said he had shot his brother.
The man's brother, Michael Lee Roberts, 55, was dead when police arrived.
The brothers, who lived together in the home, were in a fight before the shooting, Wear said in a news release.
Curtis Don Roberts was still at the home when police arrived. He was taken to an area hospital for injuries sustained during the fight.
He was arrested Thursday after being interviewed by police and was booked into the Crawford County jail, where he is being held without bail on the first-degree murder charge.
Wednesday's homicide was the first of the year in Van Buren, Wear said.
