State index up 2.07; Dillard's gains 2.9%

The Arkansas Index, a price-weighted index that tracks the largest public companies based in the state, gained 2.07 to 330.62 Monday.

Ten stocks declined, seven advanced and one was unchanged.

Tyson Foods jumped 10.2 percent on four times its average volume.

Dillard's rose 2.9 percent in active trading.

America's Car-Mart dropped 3.2 percent on six times its average volume.

ArcBest lost 1.4 percent in below-average trading.

Total volume of the index was 38.3 million shares.

The index was developed by Bloomberg News and the Democrat-Gazette with a base value of 100 as of Dec. 30, 1997.
