UCA student Samuel Davies, 18, is being held at the Faulkner County jail in connection with an online threat made against the university over the weekend, officials said.

The post made to social media app Yik Yak read: "Fellow yaks, you all seem like good people and I care for you, so if you read this, please stay in your dorms or off campus next Wednesday, I care too much for you all to fall victim of the event."

University police said Sunday that the post was investigated and is not an active threat.

"It is safe to come to school," UCA police said on Twitter.

UCA President Tom Courtway said in a statement Monday: “The safety of our students, faculty, staff and all visitors is of the utmost importance. Any threat against our campus will never be taken lightly."

The university said it is "confident that this threat has been addressed," adding that "campus is open, and university business will continue as usual."

Davies was jailed about 1:55 p.m. Monday and is being held on charges of second-degree terroristic threatening and communicating a false alarm, according to Faulkner County jail records.

The Faulkner County jail said his first court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday in Faulkner County Circuit Court.

The reported threat against UCA was not the only online threat made against a Faulkner County educational institution in recent days.

The Conway Police Department and the Faulkner County sheriff's office are also investigating an online post threatening to "shoot up a Faulkner County school." A 14-year-old junior high student faces a charge of first-degree terroristic threatening.

Conway police spokesman LaTresha Woodruff said the online threat reports made against a Faulkner County school and UCA are not related.
