3 killed, 4 hurt in car accidents in state

Arkansas State Police reported three people were killed and four others injured in crashes on Arkansas roads.

On Tuesday, state police released the identity of a Little Rock man and details of the crash at Baseline and Stanton roads that killed him Monday morning.

Tremell Mahan, 34, was driving a 1998 Honda Accord south on Stanton Road at 11:45 a.m. when the car left the roadway, hit a utility pole and then hit a chain-link fence, the report said.

At the time of the crash, it was raining and roads were wet.

A Tennessee man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Monday morning in Madison County on U.S. 412 west of the Carroll County line, state police reported.

A 2015 Chevrolet pickup was headed east on U.S. 412 and rear-ended a 2015 Nissan Rogue that was also headed east, state police said. After the impact, the Nissan Rogue left the road, hit a tree and overturned in a ravine.

The driver of the Nissan, Kenneth Sisk, 78, of Jackson, Tenn., was killed in the crash. The report said the driver of the pickup, who was not listed in the report, was not injured in the crash.

A Little Rock woman was killed and four other people were injured in a two-vehicle crash in Monroe County last week, state police said in a report released Monday.

The left rear tire of a 2001 Chevrolet Tracker blew out while the vehicle was heading east on Interstate 40 at mile marker 206 at 5:11 p.m. Oct. 18, state police said. The Chevrolet entered the eastbound slow lane, where it collided with the front left side of a 2013 Mazda.

Beatrice Boyd, 94, of Little Rock, a passenger in the Chevrolet, was killed in the crash.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Anita Carlton, 52, of Little Rock, and another passenger in the car, Mary White, 57, of Riverdale were also injured. The driver of the Mazda, Nancy Pohlman, 72, of Camp Verde, and Cyndee Pohlman, 46, also of Camp Verde, were also injured in the crash. The injured were transported to UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock and Forrest City Medical Center in Forrest City.

At the time of the crash, the weather was clear and roads were dry.
