State's metro areas' jobless rates all fall

Unemployment rates of Arkansas' metropolitan areas continued to fall, as four had rates below 5 percent in September, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics said.

Arkansas' unemployment rate was 5.2 percent in September, and the national rate was 5.1 percent.

The Northwest Arkansas rate was 3.5 percent last month, down from 4.3 percent in the same month last year.

Jonesboro's unemployment rate was 4.3 percent, down from 5.2 percent in September last year. Little Rock's rate was 4.4 percent last month, down from 5.2 percent a year earlier. Texarkana's rate was 4.8 percent, down from 5.8 percent for the same period in 2014.

Fort Smith and Hot Springs notched 5.3 percent, down from 5.6 percent and 6.1 percent respectively; and Pine Bluff, was at 7.0 percent, down from 7.7 percent.
