Crockett's 4 TDs sink Devil Dogs

MORRILTON -- Damarea Crockett was the king of the 1-yard touchdown run Friday night.

Crockett scored four touchdowns -- three of them from a yard out -- as unbeaten Little Rock Christian mowed down Morrilton 49-21 to earn the top seed from the 5A-West Conference at a Devil Dogs Stadium.

Crockett ran 27 times for 118 yards as Little Rock Christian (9-0, 6-0) secured home-field advantage throughout the state playoffs.

Morrilton (6-3, 4-2) fell into a second-place tie with Greenbrier. The Devil Dogs could still earn a home playoff berth with a victory over Clarksville and a Greenbrier loss to Vilonia next week.

Little Rock Christian rolled up 464 total yards on a rainy evening as Warriors quarterback Kyron Sanders completed 14 of 23 passes for 249 yards. He also ran 13 times for 76 yards.

Warriors receiver Joe Hampton caught two touchdown passes covering 69 and 17 yards. Hampton finished with five receptions for 129 yards.

Morrilton managed 340 total yards but was held to 6 yards rushing in the second half. Devil Dogs quarterback Caleb Canady was 20 of 28 for 287 yards with touchdown passes of 26 yards to Oshae Erby and 78 yards to Graham Heidenrich.

The Warriors were forced to punt on their opening possession, but a roughing-the-kicker penalty kept the drive alive. Three plays later, Hampton caught a pass on the left sideline and turned it into a 69-yard scoring play with 8:41 left in the first quarter.

Crockett's first 1-yard TD capped a 10-play, 80-yard drive. The senior scored with 10:23 left in the first half to give the Warriors a 14-0 advantage.

A 61-yard pass reception by Laken Dillard set up Morrilton's first touchdown. Heidenrich scored three plays later to cut Little Rock Christian's lead to 14-7 with 7:30 left.

Little Rock Christian increased its lead to 21-7 when Stone Boshears picked up a fumble by Crockett at the 3 and ran it in with 6:09 left before halftime.

Crockett's second 1-yard scoring run came with :09 showing before halftime. Crockett set up the touchdown with a 25-yard pass reception.

Crockett scored his third touchdown 87 seconds into the second half. He scored his final touchdown with 2:25 left in the game.

Morrilton scored twice in the third quarter on a 26-yard pass to Erby and on Heidenrich's 78-yard touchdown.

Heidenrich led Morrilton with seven catches for 111 yards. Deiontae Duncan added seven catches for 51.

HOT SPRINGS — Maurice Bradford scored a 1-yard touchdown run with 22 seconds left to lift Hot Springs Lakeside to a wild victory Friday night at Austin Field. The victory gave the Rams (8-1, 6-0 5A-South Conference) their first conference championship since 1975 and they secured home-field advantage through the playoffs.

Jakobi Jackson finished 18 of 34 for 364 yards and 4 touchdowns, scoring once on the ground. Isaiah Jones caught 7 for 188 yards and 2 scores, Jaquan Dorsey 5 for 81 and a score, and Trey Cole had 192 yards from scrimmage and 3 combined touchdowns for the Wildcats (4-5, 4-2).

Colt Housley led Lakeside with 168 yards and 3 touchdowns on 30 carries. Bradford added 118 yards and 2 scores on 18 rushes, and Alexander completed 9 of 18 for 220 yards, 7 to Dean for 164 yards and a score.
