TDs by Freeman, Robinson carry Episcopal Collegiate

Senior running back Kelvin Robinson and senior wide receiver Allie Freeman helped Episcopal Collegiate overpower Benton Harmony Grove 42-30 on Friday night in Little Rock.

The Wildcats (7-1, 5-1 5-3A) never trailed.

Robinson gained 132 yards on 14 carries and scored three times, including a 41-yard run. Robinson also caught one pass for 17 yards.

Freeman, meanwhile, added only 34 yards on 5 catches and one receiving touchdown, but he also scored on a 76-yard rushing touchdown and a 69-yard punt return. Freeman also returned an interception for 35 yards and twice scored on two-point conversions.

Freeman's performance on Friday brought his career receiving totals to 5,176 yards on 279 catches, helping him reach fifth place in yards all-time among U.S. high school receivers, according to the National Federation of State High School Associations. His 59 career receiving touchdowns are tied for eighth all-time in the NFHS record books. Freeman was honored at halftime for the achievements.

The Cardinals (5-4, 2-4) were led by Jon Johnson, who gained 229 yards on 35 carries and scored three touchdowns. Nathan Watkins also scored a touchdown for the Cardinals, a 2-yard run with four seconds left in the game.

Episcopal coach Richie Marsh said he had "no real scheme" in particular for stopping Johnson, adding that the Wildcats "threw a bunch of guys" at the Harmony Grove star.

"Our offense is our best defense at times," Marsh added.

Harmony Grove Coach Jimmie "Red" Parker, who is retiring at the end of the season, was rushed to Baptist Health in Little Rock before the game. Details on his condition were unavailable.
