Pulaski Academy blows through Dallas Highland

DALLAS — Pulaski Academy dominated early and held Dallas Highland to 125 total yards of offense in a rout.

The Bruins went 95 yards on their first drive, capped by sophomore quarterback Layne Hatcher’s 30-yard touchdown pass to Tre Bruce with 10:51 remaining in the first quarter.

The Scots were held to a three and out on their first drive and punted to the Bruins’ 1, but Pulaski Academy put together a 99-yard drive that was capped by 4-yard touchdown pass from Hatcher to Bruce with 2:07 left in the game.

Hatcher threw two more touchdown passes in the second quarter, including a 40-yard pass to Justin Charlette.

The Scots put together two touchdown drives in the third quarter but were stopped by the Bruins’ defense in the fourth quarter.

Bruce scored again with 9:59 left in the game on a 13-yard run, and Jaren Watkins added a 5-yard touchdown run with 6:24 remaining.

The Bruins finished with 514 yards. Hatcher completed 22 of 37 passes for 224 yards and 4 touchdowns. Watkins led the Bruins’ rushing attack with 199 yards and 1 touchdown on 20 carries.
