David's Burgers was cooking on-site as University of Arkansas at Little Rock students, alumni and staff lined up for the annual welcome-back-to-school lunch hosted by the UALR Alumni Association on Sept. 2.
Burgers at Bailey -- so named because the spread was laid out at the Bailey Alumni Center -- featured burgers and all the fixings, chips and cookies. The lines were long but went quickly with the assistance of alumni and student organizations helping with the food and passing out drinks.
The event continues to grow and had a record crowd this year of about 2,500. Once relegated to the center's back patio, the event has taken over the front grounds and side yard of the center. Entertainment by UALR's pep band helped create a tailgating atmosphere and there were games of volleyball and baggo.
