Dance troupe

iLuminate, a dance company that combines technology with motion in glow-in-the-dark performances, will perform at 7:30 p.m. today in Jones Performing Arts Center, Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia. Writer in residence

Creative nonfiction writer Dinty W. Auditions

Community Theatre of Little Rock will hold open auditions for The Great American Trailer Park Christmas Musical by Betsy Kelso and David Nehls, 2 p.m. Sept. 26-27 at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, 310 W. 17th St., Little Rock. Prepare to sing at least 16 bars of a song; take two copies of the sheet music, including one for the accompanist. The audition will also include cold readings from the script and a short dance call. • The Argenta Community Theater will hold auditions for youngsters in grades 4-6 for Voices in ACTion, a performing children's choir, 10 a.m.-noon Sept. 26 and 2-4 p.m. Sept. 27 at the theater, 405 Main St., North Little Rock. Music and vocal director Kurt Kennedy will select 25 children; a three-day workshop will precede weekly rehearsals, toward an initial spring 2016 concert. • Symphony of Northwest Arkansas will hold auditions for the SoNA Singers, a choral ensemble that will perform works a cappella and with the orchestra, Sept. 26 at Bentonville High School, 1801 S.E. J St., Bentonville. Auditioners should prepare a solo (preferably an oratorio, aria or art song; an accompanist will be provided); the auditions will also involve pitch memory exercises, intervals and major and minor scales. Performances with the orchestra will include "A Very SoNA Christmas" on Dec. 5 and Francis Poulenc's Gloria on April 30. Rehearsals will take place Sunday afternoons, generally in Bentonville. • Western Arkansas Ballet will hold open auditions Sept. 26 for its 30th annual production of P.I. Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker at its studio, 4701 Grand Ave., Fort Smith. Auditioners should be at least 6 years old with at least two years' experience in dance and/or gymnastics. There are also parts available for adults and boys with little or no dance experience. For girls 6-8: registration 10-10:30 a.m., audition 10:30 a.m.-noon; ages 9-10, registration noon-12:30 p.m., audition 12:30-2; for ages 11 and up, registration 2-2:30, audition 2:30-3:30. • The Argenta Community Theater will hold auditions for the musical Brigadoon (music by Frederick Loewe, lyrics and book by Alan Jay Lerner), 6-9 p.m. Oct. 2 and 4-7 p.m. Oct. 3 at the theater, 405 Main St., North Little Rock. Director Vincent Insalaco, choreographer Allison Stodola Wilson and music director Kurt Kennedy will cast approximately a dozen principal residents of the title Scottish town and four principal New Yorkers, plus members of the chorus and dance ensemble (who will be on stage much of the show). Age range is 18-60 plus. Scottish characters will perform using Scottish cultural accents; a dialect coach will be part of the production team. Auditioners should prepare 16 bars of a song, preferably from Brigadoon or a similar musical; the last hour of each audition session will include a dance call. • The Studio Theatre, 320 W. Seventh St., Little Rock, will audition performers 16 and older for the musical Into the Woods (music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, book by James Lapine), by appointment only Oct. 5. Director Rafael Castanera and musical director Bob Bidewell are seeking to cast an ethnically diverse company for 10 female and six male roles. Auditioners will sing 32 bars of a song either from, or in the style of, the show; take sheet music for the accompanist and a photograph and resume (preferred but not required). Callbacks will be Oct. 7. Rehearsals begin Feb. 8; production dates are March 11-26.
