Pine Bluff Police Department spokesman Sgt. David De Foor said Keith Wilbert, 21, died after being shot about 2 a.m. Wednesday at 4302 Boone St.

Wilbert's death is the ninth homicide in Pine Bluff this year.

De Foor said police are searching for three men in the shooting. He said they forced the home's front door open and demanded money from Wilbert and four other people in the house. Whether the robbers took any money was unclear in police reports.

No one else was injured, he said.

All three attackers were black men, had bandannas covering their faces and wore hooded sweatshirts, De Foor said. After the shooting, they ran from house, he said.

Some area residents said they will be more alert now and take more precautions.

June Harlow said she plans to visit a hardware store and buy deadbolt locks for her home. Later, she said, "I may go buy a gun."

Harlow's sister, Ginny Wallace, said she has had a gun for several years and feels safer knowing it's in her home.

"You just can't be too careful," Wallace said. "It's a scary world we live in."

Anyone with information about Wilbert's death is asked to call the Pine Bluff Police Department at (870) 730-2090 or (870) 541-5300.
