What's to love: A smart thermostat that works through the user's smartphone on remote controlled window or portable air conditioning units.
What does it do: The Tado and a smartphone basically take the place of the unit's remote control. A Wi-Fi module connects to the home's existing Wi-Fi, and after downloading the app, a smartphone can be used to monitor and change the setting, even when the homeowner is away. The module has temperature and humidity sensors and an LED display with touch control surface for manually setting the controls. The device sells for $199.
Pfister Clarify Filter Faucet
What's to love: Filtered water through an integrated system in the faucet.
What does it do: Pfister partnered with GE to make a faucet that offers filtered water on demand. Users choose between tap or filtered water by pushing back the handle. The filtration system reduces contaminates and chlorine two times faster than most conventional systems, says the company. The faucet includes a sprayer with multiple spray options for efficiency, and a warranty that covers the faucet's finish and function for life. It is available in a stainless-steel finish and sells for $249.
