A Garland County man accused of breaking into a 77-year-old woman’s home Friday morning was arrested after being found bloodied and lying facedown at a nearby boat dock, according to authorities.

In a statement Friday afternoon, the Garland County sheriff’s office said the homeowner in the 600 block of Farr Shores Drive in Hot Springs was awakened by her security system in reference to an unknown man who had entered her home.

The intruder, identified as Marcus Calhoun, 20, of Hot Springs, pushed the homeowner out of his way and broke out a window in her bedroom to flee the scene, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

Calhoun told the homeowner repeatedly that someone was trying to kill him, according to authorities.

About 9 a.m., the sheriff’s office was called again to the area, this time by a witness who saw a man, Calhoun, bleeding at the boat dock.

Calhoun was transported to a local hospital and later identified by the homeowner as the intruder.

He is charged with residential burglary and remained at the Garland County jail in lieu of $5,000 bond as of Friday evening, records show.

Calhoun is scheduled to appear May 2 in Garland County District Court.
