Haircut meeting becomes robbery in Little Rock

A Pine Bluff man was beaten and his car stolen Tuesday in Little Rock, police reported.

Officers responded at 7:10 p.m. to 3702 S. University Ave., where they found a bloodied Jason Smith, according to a police report. Smith had a deep cut on his cheek, and his face was swollen, the report said. He was taken to CHI St. Vincent Infirmary for treatment.

Smith said he'd gone to meet two men in the area of West 23rd and Abigail streets for a haircut, but the men held him at gunpoint and hit his face several times with a pistol, according to the report. The men then took Smith's cellphone, cash and white 2009 Honda Accord.

Officers noted that Smith was "very uncooperative" and was "often heard raising his voice and cussing" at the hospital.

The robbers are both described as black, 5-foot-8 and weighing 120 pounds.
