A Benton man died Sunday afternoon after his car ran off Interstate 40 and into a tree.
According to an Arkansas State Police preliminary crash report, Patrick Fleming, 53, was driving his 1996 Ford Crown Victoria west on I-40 in Lonoke County at 4:20 p.m. He went off the right side of the road and struck a tree around mile marker 175.

The report said conditions were cloudy and dry when the wreck occurred. Fleming's death was the 309th of the year on state roads, according to preliminary state police data.
