Massachusetts-based software engineering firm Elyxor is adding 45 new tech jobs at its central Arkansas office, which moved from Little Rock to North Little Rock earlier this year.

As a result, the number of North Little Rock employees will grow from four people to 49 specialists within five years, officials said during an announcement at the company’s office Tuesday.

"While we have a diversified economy in Arkansas — from agriculture, to industry, to retail, to tourism — we will not be complete as a state and complete as an economy until we have a dynamic, sustained technology sector in this state," said Gov. Asa Hutchinson, adding that the state is "far down that path."

Mike Preston, director of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission, said the addition of software engineering jobs to the area will “propel us into the near future.”

“With unemployment [in Arkansas] down at 3.8 percent, we can be more competitive; we can be more selective on the jobs that we’re looking to bring here,” Preston said. “We’re looking for these software engineering jobs, the ones that are important to millennials, the new generation that’s coming up.”

Earlier this year, Elyxor entered into a two-year lease for 1,331 square feet of space on the second floor of 401 Main St. in the city’s Argenta District, according to leasing agent Newmark Grubb Arkansas.

Elyxor’s central Arkansas operation moved last September from its Little Rock home at the The Venture Center to commercial space in another part of downtown and again to North Little Rock’s Argenta District in April.

"We want people who can go and actually accelerate innovation with their clients and also bring uncommon talent to those engagements," said Rob Lentz, central Arkansas partner and chief strategy officer.

More information about employment opportunities at the software engineering firm can be found by visiting the Elyxor website.
