Market activities

Faculty and students from the Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management Institute at Pulaski Technical College will show Little Rock Farmers Market patrons how to prepare Peach Melba Cheesecake Verrines (a white-chocolate, no-bake cheesecake with peach compote, raspberry jelly and candied almonds) in a cooking demonstration, 9 a.m. Saturday, part of the second-Saturday activities in the River Market Pavilions behind the Ottenheimer Market Hall, 400 President Clinton Ave., Little Rock. The activities also mark National Farmers Market Week.

Also at 9 a.m., authors Emily Wyatt (Good Night Little Rock) and Celia Anderson (100 Things to Do in Little Rock Before You Die) will read from and sign copies of their books. A free petting zoo for the kids, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., will include chickens, goats, pigs and a mini cow.

Folk duo

Sisters and folk duo the Vogt Sisters (pronounced "vote") -- Maggie (fiddle and harmony vocals) and Abigail (acoustic guitar and lead vocals) -- will perform Saturday at the Ozark Folk Center State Park, 1302 Park Ave., Mountain Home, 2 p.m. in the Craft Village ($12, including Craft Village admission) and 7 p.m. in the Music Auditorium ($12). A combo ticket for both performances and all-day Craft Village access is $19.50. The concert will be recorded for rebroadcast on the public radio show Ozark Highlands Radio (OzarkHighlandsRadio.com). Ballet benefit

Arkansas Festival Ballet's A Midsummer Night's Dream benefit goes on pointe at 5 p.m. Sunday at South on Main, 1304 Main St., Little Rock.
