Arkansas man killed in head-on collision in rainy weather

An 81-year-old man was killed when his pickup crossed into oncoming traffic in northeast Arkansas on Thursday, according to state police.

The crash occurred around 6:50 a.m. that morning in rainy weather when Jimmy D. Rogers of Trumann was traveling on Maple Grove Lane in Poinsett County, authorities said in a preliminary report.

His northbound 2000 Dodge pickup veered into southbound traffic on the road, causing his vehicle to strike a 2015 Chevrolet pickup driven by Landdon H. Stotts, 23, of Trumann, state police said.

Rogers and Stotts were transported to St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Rogers later died at the hospital.

His death was the 333rd reported on an Arkansas road so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
