Hearing scheduled in Cogdell case

CONWAY -- A judge scheduled a Feb. 22 pretrial hearing for Randal Staton, the grandfather of one of four teenagers charged with murdering a Conway couple last summer.

Staton, 58, of Conway is charged with felony hindering apprehension or prosecution in connection with events that followed the July 21 shooting deaths of Patricia and Robert Cogdell, both 66.

Staton's grandson, Justin Staton, 15, and Hunter Drexler, 18, of Clinton are charged with two counts each of capital murder and other offenses in the Cogdells' deaths. The Cogdells had been Justin's legal guardians since at least 2010.

Justin's mother, Michelle Staton, 37, of Conway also is charged with hindering apprehension or prosecution and faces a pretrial hearing Monday before Judge Charles Clawson Jr. in Faulkner County Circuit Court.

Justin Staton and Drexler also are charged with two counts each of aggravated robbery, theft of property by threat and abuse of a corpse.

Anastasia Roberts, 17, of Conway and her boyfriend, Connor Atchley, 17, of Greenbrier, are charged with two counts each of first-degree murder and felony theft by receiving.

All four teenagers are charged as adults. All six defendants have pleaded innocent.
