Dominant 3rd quarter (36-3) sparks UCA

A strong third quarter sparked Central Arkansas to its eighth consecutive victory Wednesday night, knocking off Southeastern Louisiana 80-58.

UCA (18-2, 8-1) trailed 31-30 at halftime but exploded in the third quarter, outscoring Southeastern Louisiana 36-3 to take a commanding lead at the Farris Center. The Sugar Bears made their first five shots in the quarter and made 14 of 21 total, while holding the Lions (3-17, 2-7) to 1-for-15 shooting and six turnovers to take a 66-34 lead.

Maggie Proffitt led UCA with 22 points on 4 of 7 three-point shooting, including a three to spark the big third quarter. Kendara Watts had 13 points and 12 rebounds. The Sugar Bears shot 46.5 percent from the floor (33 of 71).

The Lions shot 22 of 64 from the floor (34.4 percent).
