Senior guard Trish O'Connell scored 21 points and handed out five assists as the Farmington Lady Cardinals rolled past the host Maumelle Lady Hornets 66-57 in a 5A-West game Friday.
O'Connell scored 16 of her points in the second half, hitting two quick three-pointers to open the second half and knocking down 5 of 6 free-throw attempts in the game's final minute.
Farmington (8-11, 5-3) overcame the efforts of Maumelle senior guards Kayla Woods-Gray and Kamri Summons, who scored 27 and 21 points, respectively.
Farmington led 30-25 at the half and stretched that advantage to as much as 50-37 late in the third quarter. Maumelle (10-10, 3-5) got within six points and had a chance to pull within four, but a missed shot from inside the lane resulted in a rebound by O'Connell, who eventually found sophomore teammate Camryn Journagan for a layup. Maumelle, which dropped its fourth consecutive game, was never any closer than eight points the rest of the way.
Farmington had four players with 10 or more points. Madisyn Pense came off the bench for 13 points, including 3 three-pointers. Seniors Kaylee Brown and Tori Hamley each added 10 points.
Woods-Gray backed her 27-point performance with 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals. Summons came up with five rebounds and three steals. McKenzie Smith added seven rebounds for the Lady Hornets.
Farmington was 23 of 49 from the floor, including 17 of 27 from two-point range. Maumelle was 21-for-53 shooting, but only 16 of 43 on two-pointers.
