• Melvin Earl Ames Jr., 40, of Route 2 Box 305 in Watts, Okla., was arrested Saturday in connection with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and one misdemeanor offense. Ames was being held Sunday at the Benton County Jail with no bond set.

• Halie Dionne Freemyer, 24, of 1208 E. Jewell St. in Siloam Springs was arrested Saturday in connection with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Freemyer was being held Sunday at the Benton County Jail with no bond set.

• Marvin Sherwood, 41, of 3738 Bunch Road in Anderson, Mo., was arrested Saturday in connection with four counts of possession of a controlled substance. Sherwood was being held Sunday at the Benton County Jail with no bond set.

• Shanonn Burleson, 38, of 11074 Hammer Road in Neosho, Mo., was arrested Saturday in connection with three counts of possession of a controlled substance and one misdemeanor offense. Burleson was being held Sunday at the Benton County Jail with no bond set.

Fayetteville

• Dennis McMurtree, 53, of 600 S.W. Diamond Road in Bentonville was arrested Sunday in connection with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and one misdemeanor offense. McMurtree was being held Sunday at the Washington County Detention Center on a $1,500 bond.

• Cory Welsh, 40, no address listed, was arrested Saturday in connection with possession of drug paraphernalia. Welsh was being held Sunday at the Washington County Detention Center on a $3,748 bond.

• Jeanette Lynn Denver, 39, of 20752 Sibley Road in Sulphur Springs was arrested Saturday in connection with four counts of possession of a controlled substance and one misdemeanor offense. Denver was being held Sunday at the Benton County Jail with no bond set.

Johnson

• Cindy Nelson, 28, of 1021 E. Washington Ave. in North Little Rock was arrested Sunday in connection with theft of property and three misdemeanor offenses. Nelson was being held Sunday at the Washington County Detention Center on a $2,500 bond.

Springdale

• By Phonasasivixay, 38, of 17239 Old House Road in Garfield was arrested Saturday in connection with possession of drug paraphernalia, simultaneous possession of drugs and a firearm, possession of a firearm by certain persons, violating parole and one misdemeanor offense. Phonasasivixay was being held Sunday at the Washington County Detention Center on a $7,500 bond.

• An injury accident was reported at 10:19 a.m. Saturday at South Walton Boulevard and Southeast Walton Boulevard.

Fayetteville

• An injury accident was reported at 1:22 p.m. Sunday at East Millennium Drive and East Joyce Boulevard.

Fire

Fayetteville

• Fayetteville Fire Department extinguished a grass fire at 5:56 a.m. Sunday at 6205 W. Persimmon St. The fire started after an explosion caused by a firework placed in a resident's mailbox, said Sgt. Craig Stout, Fayetteville police spokesman. The explosion ignited the surrounding grass but the flames were extinguished before any structures were damaged, Stout said. Police and the Washington County Fire Marshal are investigating the incident, Stout said.
