Lavar Thompson, 38, was arrested by U.S. marshals and charged with two counts of capital murder and two counts of attempted capital murder, according to a Pulaski County sheriff's office arrest report.

Thompson was found by Monticello police in a house Sunday where a woman was found shot to death, authorities said. Police also found the body of another man in a car near the house, according to an Arkansas State Police news release.

State police spokesman Bill Sadler, reached at home late Tuesday, said he didn't have access to the necessary files and directed questions to the Monticello Police Department.

Attempts to reach the Monticello Police Department were unsuccessful late Tuesday, but a deputy at the Drew County jail confirmed Thompson was being held there without bail on two counts of capital murder.

First responders found Shalonda Binns, 32, dead inside a house on South Chester Street in Monticello early Sunday; Jeremiah Jones, 37, was found dead in a nearby car, the Sunday new release stated.

Thompson was found suffering from a gunshot wound in the same home as Binns, and he was transported to a Little Rock hospital, the release said.

Marshals arrested Thompson at a residence on Clement Drive in Little Rock just before 4 p.m. Tuesday.
