Booking mug for Benton County Sheriff Kelley Cradduck

Benton County Sheriff Kelley Cradduck has been arrested on charges of tampering with a public record, a felony; and tampering, a misdemeanor.

Cradduck had a court hearing Tuesday afternoon at the Benton County Jail in front of Circuit Judge Brad Karren. He was released on his own recognizance.

Drew Miller, Cradduck's attorney, declined to comment.

Jason Barrett was appointed special prosecutor after allegations that Cradduck tried to backdate pay for a jail employee. Barrett was at the hearing but declined to comment.

Benton County Coroner Daniel Oxford served briefly as interim sheriff Tuesday, but Cradduck had resumed his role shortly after the hearing.

Shouldn't a sheriff who has been charged with a felony be placed on leave, even if it is with pay?

should be on-leave WITHOUT pay!
As the Sheriff, he should be setting the example for integrity in his department.
If or when no wrong doing is decided, then that's when he should be paid again!

He forward dated the paperwork so technically postponed his charges.

All our elected officials appear to have tainted morals. I am unsure if power corrupts or if it is a prerequisite to the position. Sad is the best adjective that comes to mind.
