Two teenage brothers have been identified as the people sought in connection with the fatal shooting Saturday of a University of Arkansas at Fort Smith student.

In a news release Tuesday, the Fort Smith Police Department said Shakur Shanden Sharp, 16, and his brother James Lariel Sharp, 15, are linked to the shooting that left Kaleb Watson, 22, dead from multiple gunshot wounds at a local hospital.

James Sharp, described as standing 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 120 pounds, was reported as a runaway Friday by his mother, according to authorities.

Police said Shakur Sharp stands at 6 feet tall and weighs 165 pounds.

In an initial news release, Fort Smith police said they received a call of a shooting about 7:30 p.m. Saturday at 4700 Windsor Drive.

Two people, identified by authorities as James and Shakur Sharp, entered the home wearing black clothes and ski masks and attempted to rob Watson and a woman at gunpoint, police said.

Authorities said an altercation then occurred between Watson and one of the assailants, leading to Watson being shot multiple times.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the two brothers is asked to call Fort Smith police at (479) 709-5100.
